Wajeez
Arabic app offering 15-minute audio and text summaries of nonfiction books and podcasts.

Wajeez is a mobile and web app that gives Arabic-speaking users condensed audio and text summaries — roughly 15 minutes each — of nonfiction books, alongside dramatized audio narratives, podcast excerpts and poetry recordings. It was founded around 2019 by Mohammad Zatara (CEO) and Rami Abu Jbari, operating under the entity Faylasof Ltd, and has been reported as headquartered both in Amman, Jordan (at the time of its 2021 funding announcement) and, per its current website, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The company raised a $3 million pre-Series A round led by Saudi VC firm STV, with participation from Shorooq Partners, Mawdoo3 and Wise Ventures. Its library spans over 3,500 book and podcast summaries, and the app reports over 1.2 million downloads with more than half its users based in Saudi Arabia and Egypt as the second-largest market; the company's own site now cites roughly 6 million users across 137 countries. It runs on a freemium subscription model.
