Tap Payments is a licensed payment institution and technology provider founded in Kuwait in 2014 by Ali Abulhasan (some sources also credit co-founder Ahmed Al Munayes). It operates a payment gateway and checkout infrastructure used by more than 100,000 businesses across the MENA region, supporting over 20 local, regional and global payment methods including mada, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, STC Pay, and buy-now-pay-later providers Tamara and Tabby. Products include a hosted checkout, shareable payment links via WhatsApp, SMS, Instagram and email, payment APIs and SDKs, and plugins for major e-commerce platforms, serving solopreneurs, SMBs, enterprises and multinationals. Tap is registered as an e-payment services provider with the Central Bank of Kuwait and holds licenses in other Gulf markets, with offices across roughly eight countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, and more than 200 employees.
