Tagaddod
A tech-enabled platform that collects and aggregates used cooking oil and renewable feedstock for biofuel production.

Tagaddod ('renewal' in Arabic) is a Cairo-based company, founded in 2013 by Nour El Assal and Ahmed ElFarnawany, that collects, aggregates, and traces used cooking oil (UCO), acid oils, and animal fats from households, restaurants, food manufacturers, and collectors, and supplies them as feedstock to biodiesel and hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) producers. Its consumer-facing Green Pan program and mobile app let households and small businesses hand over used cooking oil, which the company says reached over 450,000 households and 5,000 businesses in 2024, addressing a waste stream in Egypt where only a small fraction of used cooking oil is properly collected and recycled rather than dumped in landfills or waterways. The company has since expanded its collection and trading operations into other markets across Africa, Asia, and Europe (with an operational base in Rotterdam, Netherlands), positioning itself as infrastructure for the growing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biofuel supply chain. In October 2025 Tagaddod closed a $26.3 million Series A round led by The Arab Energy Fund (TAEF), with participation from FMO, VKAV, and A15, to fund regional expansion and technology development.
