SkipCash
QCB-licensed Qatari app for contactless QR-code payments between consumers and merchants.
SkipCash is a Qatari mobile payments company that lets consumers pay merchants by scanning a proprietary QR code, removing the need for cash, physical cards or point-of-sale terminals. Users link a payment card to the app, can track spending through visual reports, organize receipts, set up virtual sub-accounts for family members, and redeem merchant vouchers and coupons; merchants use it to accept contactless payments and run loyalty offers. SkipCash is licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and regulated by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), and is Visa-certified and PCI DSS Level 1 certified. The company launched its consumer app in December 2020 (the underlying company dates to 2018) and had grown to serve over 6,000 businesses and 250+ brand partnerships as of recent company reporting. SkipCash raised a QR7 million (~$2 million) seed round in 2021 to expand its infrastructure, and has partnered with Microsoft Qatar.
