Proteinea
AI-driven protein engineering platform designing next-generation antibody therapeutics.

Proteinea is a computational biology and biomanufacturing company that engineers antibody Fc domains using AI-driven prediction models combined with therapeutic and structural biology expertise. Its platform is used to design proteins with improved half-life, immune-tuning properties, and targeted biodistribution for next-generation antibody therapeutics, aimed at pharmaceutical and biotech partners working on life-threatening diseases. The company was founded in Cairo, Egypt in 2019 by Mahmoud Eljendy and Abdulaziz Elgamal, and has since expanded with an office near Boston, Massachusetts and a laboratory at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Proteinea has raised approximately $6.5 million in seed funding from investors including SOSV, IndieBio, Shorooq Partners, Sawari Ventures, Sadu Capital, Sukna Ventures, 500 Global, and TA Ventures. Beyond its computational antibody-engineering platform, the company has also researched alternative biomanufacturing methods, including using insect larvae as low-cost bioreactors for producing recombinant proteins.
