Opontia
Acquires and grows e-commerce brands across the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.

Opontia is an e-commerce roll-up ('house of brands') company that acquires small and mid-sized online-native brands and scales them using shared operational infrastructure — supply chain, marketing, finance, and technology. It was founded in February 2021 by Philip Johnston and Manfred Meyer and is headquartered in Dubai, UAE, with additional offices in Riyadh, Istanbul, and Warsaw, reflecting its focus on the CEEMEA region (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa). Within its first year it acquired multiple brands (including UAE medical-products maker Novimed) and raised a $42 million Series A round (equity plus venture debt) led by Saudi VC firm STV, following an earlier $20 million raise; total funding reported across rounds is roughly $62 million. Rather than selling a subscription product to end users, Opontia's core offering is a buyout/partnership process for e-commerce entrepreneurs who want to sell their business and see it scaled further under Opontia's ownership.
