Nowlun

Nowlun is a digital freight forwarding platform based in Alexandria, Egypt, founded in 2021 by Moataz Khamis, Mahmoud Khaled, and Ahmed Emara. It lets importers and exporters compare real-time rates from over 30 shipping lines, and manages the shipping process end to end, including full container load (FCL) and bulk cargo bookings, break bulk shipments, inland trucking, customs clearance support, and air freight tracking. The platform is aimed at businesses in Egypt and the wider MENA region that previously relied on manual quote requests and phone-based coordination with freight forwarders. Nowlun raised a $1.7 million seed round in December 2024 led by Nama Ventures and A15, with participation from Sanabil 500 Global, and later extended the round by $600,000 from Ingressive Capital, bringing its total seed funding to about $2.3 million. The company has said it plans to use the additional capital to build an AI-powered logistics assistant for ocean freight shippers across MENA and Africa.
