Chefaa
Online pharmacy marketplace for ordering medicines and health products with home delivery.
Chefaa is an Egyptian online pharmacy platform that connects patients with a network of partner pharmacies, letting users order prescription medicines, refill recurring prescriptions, and buy non-pharmaceutical health and beauty products via its website and mobile apps (iOS and Android), with delivery to their location. It was founded in 2017 in Cairo by Doaa Aref and Dr. Rasha Rady; the founding story is tied to Aref's family experience with a cancer diagnosis and the difficulty of managing recurring medication logistics. Chefaa raised early seed funding from 500 Startups and Flat6Labs in 2018, a seven-figure pre-Series A round in 2020 from 500 Startups, Vision Ventures and Womena, and a $5.25 million Series A round in 2023 backed by Newtown Partners, Global Brain, M3 Inc., GMS Capital Partners, and Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures. With that funding the company scaled logistics, expanded its pharmacy network, launched a B2B supply arm called Chefaa Supply, and grew its team past 140 employees; it has also extended operations into Saudi Arabia under a localized brand (Chefaa KSA).
