Careem

Careem is a Dubai-based super app that combines ride-hailing, food and grocery delivery, car rental and digital payments through Careem Pay. Founded in 2012 by Mudassir Sheikha and Magnus Olsson, it serves customers in more than 70 cities across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Uber acquired Careem for $3.1 billion in 2019, and in 2023 UAE telecom group e& took a 50.03% majority stake in the super app arm, Careem Technologies, backed by a $400 million investment.
