Shift EV is a Cairo-based electric mobility company that retrofits existing commercial vans, trucks and three-wheelers into electric vehicles (electrofitting) using lithium-ion battery packs it designs and manufactures in Egypt, bundled with charging, maintenance and its ShiftWare fleet-monitoring platform under a subscription with no upfront cost. Its customers are logistics, e-commerce and FMCG fleet operators including Nestlé Egypt, Danone Egypt and Mylerz. Founded in 2020 and led by co-founder and CEO Aly Eltayeb, it raised a Series A co-led by Union Square Ventures, Algebra Ventures and Wamda in April 2022.
