Pure Harvest Smart Farms grows tomatoes, berries, leafy greens and other produce in climate-controlled hydroponic greenhouses engineered to keep yields going through Gulf summers, and sells the harvest under its own brand through regional grocers and online delivery platforms. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi and founded in 2016 by Sky Kurtz, Mahmoud Adi and Robert Kupstas, it runs farms in Al Ain in the UAE plus sites at Al-Muzahmiyya near Riyadh and Haradh in Saudi Arabia, and is shifting toward a farming-as-a-service model for landowners. The company has raised over $200 million, including a $181 million round backed by Saudi Arabia's Olayan family, and in 2023 acquired RedSea's six-hectare controlled-environment facility near Riyadh.
