MNT-Halan

MNT-Halan is an Egyptian fintech whose Halan app combines microfinance, SME and consumer lending, buy-now-pay-later, payroll and vehicle finance with a mobile wallet, cards, bill payments and an in-app store selling appliances, electronics and FMCG goods. It targets consumers and small merchants outside the banking system, and has expanded beyond Egypt into Türkiye, the UAE and Pakistan. Founded in 2017 by Mounir Nakhla and Ahmed Mohsen, it became Egypt's first fintech unicorn in early 2023 after a $400 million equity-and-securitised-bond raise, and reports more than 5 million clients served and over $2.5 billion in loans disbursed.
